The Cook Islands Financial Intelligence Unit launched a video awareness campaign in consultation with the other stakeholders, including the banks and the Office of the Prime Ministers Information and Communication Technology team. The campaign, titled Be Kukiwise and Stop The Scam is a video campaign which aims to educate citizens of the Cook Islands about the dangers of cybercrime, fraud and misinformation. The video, available in English and Maori with subtitles, teaches the financial cost that scammers have had on the Cook Islands economy and shares some easily identifiable tips to prevent internet users from falling victim to scammers.
